Since liberalization in the Indian Economy, India has been pledged to become global Power Developments in Technology, Talent development, Infrastructure development has lead India to become the global Power leader in multiple fields.

There are all positive changes which will lead to the efficient supply chain for the Industry. I will write about India's Supply chain Industry hidden issues Vs."RIVIGO".

Some Facts about current Industry:-

1. Currently, this industry is at 165 Billion and expected to grow to 215 Billion dollars within 2 years.

2. In 2014 India's supply chain industry was at 54th rank but in 2016 it was on 35th rank.

3. Expected Growth around 10%-15% YOY.

Since we all focus on positive changes and we all say the industry is improving & that is true but there is 1 thing which is the most integral part of the industry and that is constant since the emergence of the industry.

 We name a thing around all of us that have come to us after transportation in the truck or via another mode. Our entire supply chain is dependent on Truck Driver.

Some Facts about Truck Driver India:-

• They treat themselves as the 37th caste of the country
• Truck driver ratio is 484/1000 in India
• Nobody wants to become Truck Driver because of his lifestyle
• They have to be on road around average 25 days in a month 
• Very less participation in home festivals, Ceremonies, Happiness, Sorrows, their children's Parents Meeting
• Poor education of their children because of less pay
• No- Life Insurance Coverage
• Less Pay
• Continuous Running on Truck for a long time
• Aids ration is higher in Truck Drivers
• Involve in theft and Criminal Activities
• Not financially sound for getting Loan 

Question:-

 When we know that he is the key to this industry, Will this industry can be utilized to its potential?

His Life has to be Improved so that he should not be treated as a machine, He should be treated like Human.

Implications if this continues:-

1. If Truck to Driver ratio is low then overall freight cost will increase

2. Price of products will increase | Ultimately it will lead to inflation

3. Material handling cost, Warehousing cost will increase

4. More inventory needed to be in stock so Inventory cost will increase

5. The transit time will increase

LAUNCH of DRIVER RELAY MODAL

• This modal is based on Railways, Like when the train reaches the destination then driver changes similarly when the truck reaches to its pitstop driver used to change
• Pitstops are within the distance of 250-300 Kms
• Pilots used to be appointed from the same location of 250-300 Km so that he is aware of everything of that area
• Pilot reaches to pitstop, he rests there and exchanges the truck which is going to his original location from where he started
• Exp:- Truck A is going to Jodhpur from Delhi and Truck B coming from Jodhpur to Delhi, When Truck A & B both will reach Jaipur then they will exchange the trucks and will go to their original location
• The truck will stop at the pitstops then all the routine maintenance will be done there so that there will not be break down
• Truck run 800-900 Kms per day (almost double from Industry because of this modal.
• Transit time has been reduced to 50% (Such a huge figure for any industry)
• Like there are Airports for Airplanes, Railway stations for Trains RIVIGO has introduced Pitstops for Trucks.
• Pitstops are on the Highway so that truck drivers can rest there & currently the company is having 70+ pitstops.

• Their children study in good schools
• Here in Rovigo Truck to Driver ratio is 130/100 

Conclusion:-

Time has begun to change the supply chain structure of India, Walmart could not able to come to India because of Poor Supply chain Facilities in India but that has been started by RIVIGO.

India is improving its Presence in the Global Market & with this Modal I am sure the Structure of Logistics Industry will change in the Significant way.
